Judgment day was announced to be May 21, 2011 according to a Family Radio Worldwide broadcast. May 21 wasn’t just a random day that was picked. He said that by “closely reading” scripture, he was able to determine the date. It also said the “end of the world” was near. October, 2011 could be when that happens. Many Religious organizations, websites and media outlets have decided that May 21, 2011 can be judgment day.
What exactly is Judgment Day?
So when May 21, 2011 comes, what exactly is the day of judgment?. According to many Religious groups, judgment is the day that a higher power hands down rapture and good Christians are "gathered together in the air" to meet Jesus. This is a date that they believe precedes the end of the world. Several say that some Christians will just be taken off the Earth on May 21, 2011. Others believe the rapture date is more figurative, though the Christian group announcing the May 21 time believes it's literal.
Judgment day in the previous
This is not the first time that Camping and other Christian leaders have named a Judgment Day. Rapture Day was intended to take place in 1994 also. This is what Camping previously said. In prior years, religious leaders have declared the date they believe could be the official Judgment Day. Edgar C. Wisenant named 1988, then 1989 as dates for rapture. Then 1992 was named for Rapture Day by the Korean group “Mission for the Coming Days”. Multiple groups named 1993 as a possible date of judgment, because it was seven years before 2000, which they believed would be the end of the world. Not all judgment dates are within the previous, however. Sir Isaac Newton estimated the date of the rapture would be sometime in 2060. Books, movies and even the expansion of the World of Warcraft series have all been inspired by Rapture Day.
