Waterboarding Decision Gets Bush OK In Brand New Memoir

Bush has a brand new memoir entitled “Decision Points,” and in it, he presents a defense for his administration's decision to employ waterboarding techniques. The controversial interrogation technique was used by United States of America authorities to get details from radical Islamist prisoners at Abu Ghraib prison. In an interview with Matt Lauer, George Bush said once more that he approved the use of waterboarding because his legal time assured him that it didn't run legally afoul of the Anti-Torture Act.

Waterboarding is precautionary also

After 9-11, Waterboarding became something talked about a lot. A repeat terrorist attack was a serious concern for United States of America intelligence. Intelligence agents assured President Bush that info on future attacks existed. Waterboarding ended up getting the permission from President Bush that it needed. He had to talk to his attorneys about this first though.

Some ask, 'Why is waterboarding legal?'

Lauer asked Bush why he thought waterboarding was legal starting the large waterboarding question. This is what the former president said:

“Because the lawyer said it had been legal. He said it did not fall within the Anti-Torture Act. I am not a lawyer, however you gotta trust the judgment of individuals around you. And I do.”

Based on NPR, there is nevertheless a question everybody wants to know. Lauer didn’t ask what Americans waited for. Waterboarding had been legal. Does that mean it is “moral” though? Waterboarding is something that numerous nations say is torture. Numerous wonder if President Bush has a problem with it now thinking about his “born-again” Christian religion he claims to have.

'Decision points' to murky waters

Quick decisions have to be made with terrorism. National security is important. The decisions are things most will never understand. World leaders have for making them every day though. Several wonder if it's moral to do waterboarding, even if it's legal. Slavery had been legal in The United States at one point also although it was not moral. Abortion is legal, however numerous individuals issue its morality. Waterboarding faces similar questions - and now, the statute of limitations has expired on the ability to prosecute over the CIA's destruction of Abu Ghraib interrogation recordings. The obstruction of Justice can never be prosecuted. Prosecutions over waterboarding might never occur, despite the fact that Obama has banned the practice and stated that it can no longer be ordered by a president.
