Crazy Movie Pool Scenes
You don't have to watch many movies to see the Swimming pool pump fired up for a poolside shindig. Here are three of the best pool party scenes.
Caddyshack
In one of the most hilariously puerile movie moments, a stray Baby Ruth chocolate bar gets dropped into an outdoor swimming pool causing mass panic. Hardly the most welcome of Swimming Pool Accessories. Whilst the mass panic is clearly a timely stab at the chaos the shark causes in Jaws, the later callback is all Caddyshack (and all completely gross). When the pool is later drained, Bill Murray's character Carl Spackler enjoys a nutty snack.
Jesus Christ Superstar
Completely missing from the rest of this bizarre bible themed 70s Rock Opera, King Herod suddenly appears in campy, hedonistic style in a scene late in the movie. The Messiah barely knows what to make of Herod and his oiled bare-chest. His entourage is similar (un)attired with bright hotpants and afro-wigs. Maybe they should check what's in the Swimming Pool Chemicals. Amateur productions always go to the movie version to see how it all should be done. School productions in particularly can't seem to break out of this particular mold, and many a camp college student has been encouraged to go wild for this one. Even Lloyd Webber outdoes himself in this scene, setting up some truely cringe-worthy rhymes: 'Prove to me that you're no fool, walk across my swimming pool'.
Anchorman
30 years after the real thing, Anchorman's memorable 70s Action News send-up gave us another extreme version of the decade's ridiculous hedonism. Endlessly quotable, it's a celebration of all things party animal, not least because so many modern comedy frat-boys are on board. The film features five of the six so called 'frat pack' members, Will Ferrell, Vince Vaughn, Luke Wilson, Ben Stiller and Jack Black. The Hollywood pool party you could have with these guys - and Steve Carell and Seth Rogen, who co-star - would be a thing to behold.
